UNIT HISTORY AND TRADOC:

In the Summer 2009, members of a roleplaying group collectively known as D.O.O.M (The Dominion Of Obvious Misfortune), organized into a six person airsoft team called Squad Hindenburg, 1st PLT (Dirty First), 129th Zeppelin Airborne. The team included  Red Queen, Thunder Lizard, Zenthane, 5-11, The Gunshow, and LZ 129. LZ, an Iraq Veteran, organized and trained the team in a little over two weeks to prepare them for Operation Vigilance IV, a large scale two-day, 200+ person Milsim event in Poynette WI. The team learned battle-drills and light infantry tactics from US Army Infantry FMs 7-8 and 21-75. The intensive training paid off at Vigilance, where the team took home the MVP award for the UN forces.

SQUAD HINDENBURG

A friendly message to the Hypersensitive or Reactionary:
Squad Hindenburg is a MilSim oriented Airsoft team comprised of members from South-Eastern Wisconsin. The squad is affiliated with a larger airsoft organization known as "The Company". These organizations as well as any linked to this site family are in not to be misinterpreted  as actual military or para-military organizations. Any "weapons" appearing in site images are airsoft type training devices and cannot be modified in any way to fire actual lethal ammunition. This site contains references to military operations which never really happened. Airsoft is a competitive extreme sport which utilizes real-world military tactics and simulated weapon-systems to complete missions in organized private wargames. Team Dossiers contain character or warrior persona information which, with a few exceptions, is fabricated and is a part of the role-playing aspect of the sport.

WHATS IN A NAME?

Squad Hindenburg is named after the Lakehurst Naval Air Station Hindenburg tragedy of 1937. The Squad motto is "Crash and Burn!" The significance of the name lies in the fact that the creation of the Squad was an accident.

Nails and other members of the Company invited members of D.O.O.M. to join their team and attend Operation Vigilance IV. Unfortunately, due to an error in communications, the future members of Squad Hindenburg purchased uniforms and equipment that placed them on the UN team, opposite their friends in the Company who had registered for the Middle Eastern Alliance. In addition, three members of D.O.O.M. had already pre-registered for the UN team. Undeterred, the Squad was christened Hindenburg in commemoration of the accident which brought them together as a team.

At Operation Vigilance, the Squad recruited new members and quickly trained and indoctrinated them. Turtle, Whitehead, and Orange were initiated into the squad. Two honorary members, Captain Gallows and Captain Cody, were presented with unit combat patches for going to battle with the Squad, though they officially claimed other airsoft affiliations.
Following Operation Vigilance IV, Squad Hindenburg joined the Company, but elected to maintain unit cohesion within the larger team. Officially, Squad Hindenburg is a part of the Company, although they train independently and maintain their own unit structure within.
